During a recent visit to Dezhou in Shandong province, Chinese President Xi Jinping underscored the importance of advancing agricultural modernization and enhancing rural development. His visit highlighted a commitment to bolstering agricultural production capabilities and ensuring a steady supply of essential products like grains. Xi pointed out that while fostering a more sustainable and livable countryside is vital, it is equally important to empower farmers to improve their livelihoods through innovation and diligence.

President Xi’s itinerary included visits to local villages, where he observed wheat harvesting, corn planting, and the use of farming equipment. He also reviewed agricultural support systems in place. In his discussions, Xi stressed the necessity of implementing supportive policies for grain production, aiming for robust harvests throughout the year. This emphasis on grain production aligns with China’s broader objectives of food security and agricultural resilience.

Further highlighting the need for infrastructural improvements, Xi called for stronger disaster prevention measures to safeguard farming communities from potential adversities. He advocated for enhanced agricultural infrastructure as a means to support rural development. Additionally, Xi emphasized the role of local organizations in delivering public services and driving rural advancements, recognizing their significance in achieving national goals.

Engaging with villagers, Xi addressed several community concerns, including employment opportunities, income levels, healthcare for the elderly, and children’s education. He urged government officials to prioritize public welfare and tackle the challenges faced by rural communities. This focus forms a critical element of China’s overarching rural development strategy, aiming to uplift the quality of life for rural residents.
