China has emphasized its dedication to enhancing ties with Central Asian nations, as highlighted by Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s recent visit to Kyrgyzstan. The agenda prominently featured regional cooperation and multilateral coordination. In a series of meetings with leaders and foreign ministers from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan, discussions revolved around strengthening collaboration through platforms like the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), the China–Central Asia mechanism, and the United Nations.
During the talks in Kyrgyzstan, China voiced its support for the upcoming SCO Bishkek Summit hosted by Kyrgyzstan, assuring continued backing for the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Both nations agreed on the necessity of deepening their coordination on issues concerning regional peace, security, and development, marking a significant step in their diplomatic engagement.
In discussions with Uzbekistan, China underscored the significance of progressing with the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan Railway. Furthermore, the two countries explored ways to broaden their cooperation in emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, smart agriculture, and modern industrial development. This move is part of a broader strategy to bolster economic and technological ties between the nations.
Meanwhile, China and Tajikistan reiterated their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations, building on a long-term friendship and cooperation treaty signed earlier this year. Both countries are looking to expand practical cooperation in areas such as energy and regional connectivity, which is expected to benefit their respective economies and contribute to greater regional stability.
The visit clearly demonstrated China’s increasing strategic partnership with Central Asian countries, focusing on infrastructure development, trade, technological advancement, and regional stability. These efforts reflect China’s broader goal of fostering a stable and prosperous Central Asia, underscoring the importance of strong diplomatic and economic ties in the region.
