Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged the nation to remain confident and take measured steps towards the goal of the country’s rejuvenation. This call to action was made during a reception in Beijing celebrating the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
Xi emphasized the importance of sustaining economic growth, fostering innovation-driven and high-quality development, and improving citizens’ livelihoods. He stressed that these efforts are crucial to achieving the targets set for the year and ensuring a robust beginning to the 15th Five-Year Plan, which spans from 2026 to 2030.
Reiterating support for the “one country, two systems” policy, Xi called for greater integration of Hong Kong and Macao with China’s broader development agenda. The President also addressed the situation with Taiwan, advocating for deeper cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation. He voiced firm opposition to “Taiwan independence” and external interference, while promoting the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations.
In terms of foreign policy, Xi stated that China would continue to pursue an independent path focused on peace and work towards fostering a community with a shared future for humanity. This approach reflects China’s broader ambition to play a significant role in global affairs while maintaining its national interests.
