China has called on India to adhere to existing bilateral border agreements to ensure peace and stability along their disputed border. This appeal comes amid reports of renewed tensions between the two nations.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun emphasized Beijing’s commitment to following the agreements and understandings with India. According to Guo, China’s routine patrols and border management activities are focused on safeguarding territorial sovereignty and maintaining stability in the border regions.
Reports of another standoff along the China-India border have surfaced, with an Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson suggesting such incidents occur when Chinese troops deviate from established patrolling patterns. Despite these reports, Guo noted that both countries are continuing to communicate through diplomatic and military channels to resolve border-related issues.
Guo urged India to collaborate with China in implementing the understandings reached by both sides, taking practical measures to prevent further tensions. Maintaining peace and tranquillity along the border remains a critical challenge for both nations as they seek to manage territorial disputes through dialogue and established communication mechanisms.
