Efficient Power Conversion (EPC) has commenced mass production of its 100 V integrated gallium nitride (GaN) power-stage IC family, which includes models EPC23108, EPC23109, EPC23110, and EPC23111. These ePower™ Stage ICs are specifically engineered for high-performance motion-control applications. They incorporate high-side and low-side eGaN® FETs, gate drivers, and level-shifting circuitry within compact, thermally enhanced QFN packages. This integrated design aims to enhance power density and efficiency while simplifying system design.
Capable of operating up to 100 V with current ratings of 35 A and 20 A, depending on the model, the devices offer features such as fast fault shutdown, safe gate control during power-loss conditions, and continuous 100% duty-cycle operation. Additionally, single-input PWM options are available, catering to multi-axis motor-control applications. EPC has also introduced evaluation boards, namely EPC91128, EPC91129, EPC91130, and EPC91131, designed for three-phase BLDC motor-drive applications. These platforms are built around the new power-stage ICs and include essential components such as gate drivers, current and voltage sensing, housekeeping power supplies, temperature monitoring, and protection functions.
The new GaN power-stage ICs and evaluation boards are available through EPC’s global distribution network, including partners like Digi-Key and Mouser. They are targeted at a range of applications including humanoid robots, drones, industrial motor drives, medical equipment, synchronous rectification, and high-density DC-DC converters. In terms of pricing, the EPC23108 and EPC23109 models are available at US$3.70 each, while the EPC23110 and EPC23111 are priced at US$2.47 each, based on an order quantity of 3,000 units. The evaluation boards, EPC91128 and EPC91129, are priced at US$640 each, with the EPC91130 and EPC91131 available for US$630 each.
In addition to the product launch, EPC is releasing a technical white paper in both English and Chinese. This document will cover the architecture, design considerations, and evaluation platforms associated with the new integrated GaN power-stage ICs. This initiative aims to provide in-depth technical insights for engineers and designers working with these advanced power solutions.
