Dublin Airport Debuts Innovative Direct Flight Route to Shanghai

On Monday, a significant milestone was achieved with the inauguration of a new non-stop flight route linking Dublin Airport to Shanghai, marking Ireland’s first direct connection to China’s largest city. Operated by China Eastern Airlines, this service will run three times weekly, utilizing Airbus A350-900 aircraft, and will become the longest non-stop flight ever scheduled from Dublin Airport.

The introduction of this route is seen as a strategic enhancement of Ireland’s connectivity with one of the globe’s foremost aviation markets. According to the airport operator daa, the direct link is anticipated to significantly boost travel, tourism, trade, and educational exchanges between Ireland and China. The development is expected to open new doors for passengers traveling between the two nations, enriching Ireland’s long-haul network.

China Eastern Airlines, based in Shanghai and a member of the SkyTeam alliance, maintains a diverse range of flights across Europe, Asia, Oceania, North America, South America, and the Middle East. The launch of the Dublin-Shanghai route is a pivotal expansion of their services, offering a direct and efficient air corridor that is expected to foster closer cooperation and stronger people-to-people connections between Ireland and China.

Wang Zhiqing, Chairman of China Eastern Airlines, emphasized the significance of the new air service, highlighting how it provides a convenient and efficient link between the two countries. This development not only represents a major addition to Dublin Airport’s long-haul offerings but also underscores the growing importance of Sino-Irish relations in aviation and beyond.
