Aged Iranian Leader Emerges to Claim Nuclear Program Survives US Assault

Date:

Iran’s Supreme Leader made his first televised appearance following weeks of military confrontation, showing visible signs of strain from the prolonged crisis. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, appearing notably weakened and speaking with difficulty, nonetheless maintained his regime’s defiant stance toward the United States.
The 86-year-old leader challenged President Trump’s claims about completely destroying Iran’s nuclear capabilities, though he acknowledged significant damage to multiple facilities. International nuclear watchdog officials confirmed extensive destruction to Iranian atomic infrastructure, potentially setting back the program by several years.
Iran’s successful attack on US forces in Qatar was highlighted by Khamenei as proof of his country’s continued military effectiveness. He characterized this strike as both retaliation for American aggression and demonstration that Iranian forces could target US interests throughout the Middle East.
The ceasefire has allowed Iran to begin the process of national recovery, with partial airspace reopening and gradual restoration of civilian activities. However, the country faces enormous challenges in rebuilding its damaged nuclear infrastructure while navigating continued international scrutiny and potential future conflicts.
