As autumn sets in, Ukraine is embarking on a “Fall of Fortification,” a period of intense activity aimed at dramatically strengthening its military posture for the coming winter and beyond. President Volodymyr Zelensky has laid out a clear agenda for the season, focused on acquiring new offensive weapons, deploying advanced defensive systems, and deepening international partnerships.
The centerpiece of the fall agenda is the finalization of a new long-range arms deal with the United States. Following a breakthrough agreement with President Donald Trump, a Ukrainian delegation will spend part of the autumn in Washington for technical meetings to hammer out the details of this crucial purchase.
Simultaneously, Ukraine’s defensive shield will be significantly reinforced. Zelensky announced that two more Patriot air defense systems are expected to arrive “in the fall,” joining one that was delivered from Israel a month ago. The deployment of these systems will be a top priority for the Ukrainian military this season.
The autumn will also see a push on the economic front. In October, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko will travel to the US to advance a joint investment fund, a key part of the long-term fortification of the Ukrainian economy.
Finally, the season will mark a new chapter in technological partnership, with talks beginning for the US to purchase Ukrainian drones. This busy autumn agenda, combining offensive, defensive, economic, and industrial initiatives, is designed to ensure that Ukraine emerges from the season stronger, more resilient, and better equipped for the challenges ahead.
