Scooby-Doo! Live-Action Series: Filming Pushed to Early 2026

Date:

The upcoming Netflix series, a live-action take on the classic Scooby-Doo!, is moving closer to production with an updated timeline. With showrunners Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg leading the project, the show will offer a fresh perspective on the iconic characters Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, and Velma, with a younger cast. The series is a joint effort between Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti Productions, and Midnight Radio.
The plot centers around the gang’s final summer at camp, where their paths cross with a Great Dane puppy. This young, lonely dog becomes the sole witness to a mysterious supernatural murder, pulling the group into a chilling investigation. The official logline teases a modern reimagining that mixes classic mystery with elements of friendship and supernatural suspense, promising a compelling new narrative.
Each of the eight episodes will run for one hour, allowing for a deep exploration of the characters and the central mystery. While the project is currently titled Scooby-Doo! The Live-Action Series, this may change before its release. Filming, which was initially rumored for fall 2025, has now been delayed until early 2026.
This new series aims to appeal to a broad audience, blending nostalgic elements with a modern sensibility. The youthful cast is expected to bring a new energy to the characters, and fans are especially curious about the casting of the young Great Dane. The show promises to be a significant addition to Netflix’s lineup.
