Rupert Grint is set to reprise his iconic role as Ron Weasley in the Broadway production of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” marking his return to the character over a decade after the Harry Potter film series concluded. Grint, who starred alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson in all eight films, will appear in the stage production for a 17-week engagement starting February 2027.
Reflecting on this return, Grint remarked, “Ron Weasley has been a part of me since I was 11 years old and I can’t wait to meet him again at this stage of life.” He noted that playing Ron as both he and the character are fathers adds a layer of both familiarity and novelty to the experience. This move follows Tom Felton’s recent portrayal of Draco Malfoy in the same production, with Felton continuing his role until January.
“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” which first premiered in London in 2016, has since expanded to several international locations. The show has captivated audiences worldwide, selling over 14 million tickets and generating more than $532 million from its New York production alone. Grint’s involvement is anticipated to bring renewed attention and excitement to the long-running play.
In addition to his upcoming stage role, Grint has an established presence on Broadway, having debuted in 2014 with the comedy “It’s Only a Play.” Beyond the stage, he has continued his acting career with projects like “Knock at the Cabin,” “Charlie Countryman,” and “Nightborn.” His return to the wizarding world coincides with the development of a new Harry Potter television series for HBO, aimed at introducing the beloved story to a new generation of fans.
