China–Russia Joint Patrol Signals Strong Commitment to Regional Security

Date:

China has emphasized that its latest joint aerial patrol with Russia highlights the two nations’ shared determination to maintain regional stability. Defense Ministry spokesman Zhang Xiaogang said the operation demonstrates both countries’ readiness and capability to address security challenges in the region. His comments came after Japan expressed concern over the patrol, calling it a show of force.
Zhang clarified that the mission, conducted over the East China Sea and western Pacific, was the 10th joint aerial strategic patrol carried out under an annual cooperation plan between the two militaries. He stressed that the operation aligns with the countries’ ongoing defense collaboration and is aimed at supporting peace and stability, rather than escalating tensions.
Japan’s defense minister had raised alarm over the joint patrol, but China reiterated that such exercises form part of long-standing cooperation and are not directed against any specific country.
