A 7-Food Plan for Natural Liver Detoxification, from a GI Expert

Date:

A gastroenterologist has shared a simple 7-food plan to help support the liver’s natural detoxification processes. These fruits and vegetables provide the nutrients this vital organ needs to manage metabolism and cleanse the body.
A cornerstone of this plan is supporting the gut-liver axis. The expert recommends cranberries, as their polyphenols act as prebiotics for gut bacteria. A healthy gut is the first step to a healthy liver and effective detoxification.
Another key part of the plan is beetroot. This vegetable is loaded with betaine, a nutrient that the doctor says “helps the liver process and move fat out of liver cells.” This action is crucial for preventing the buildup that can impair detoxification.
The plan also includes foods that support blood flow, which is necessary to move toxins. Watermelon with lime and the nitrates in beetroot both support nitric oxide production, promoting healthy circulation to the liver.
Pomegranates are included to help calm inflammation. Raspberries and apples with cinnamon are included to support metabolic health by regulating blood sugar and lipids. Finally, strawberries with 70% dark chocolate are recommended for their blood-vessel-supporting flavanols.
